Welcome and thank you for reviewing my materials in consideration for promotion to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure in the Howard University Cathy Hughes School of Communications, Department of Media, Journalism and Film.
My scholarly agenda is organized around a central question: How can intentionally designed sound transform media, shape memory, advance learning, and preserve culture?
This question lies at the heart of Social Sonic Design, my interdisciplinary framework for studying how intentionally designed sound shapes cognition, communication, and culture. By positioning sound as both a creative medium and an object of scholarly inquiry, Social Sonic Design expands how audio is studied, taught, and applied across media, education, health, and public life.
Through this framework, I strengthen Howard University's Audio program by preparing students with the technical expertise, entrepreneurial mindset, creative confidence, and industry networks required to lead the rapidly expanding immersive media sector—a market projected to exceed $40 billion globally. My internationally recognized scholarship, robust creative work, dedicated institutional service, and classroom-to-industry placement pipeline collectively demonstrate the scholarly and societal impact of Social Sonic Design while translating professional achievement into institutional opportunity.
The materials in this portfolio demonstrate a record that not only meets expectations for promotion and tenure, but also advances Howard University’s capacity in immersive media, experiential learning, public scholarship, and interdisciplinary creative research. They document my record as a scholar, educator, audio engineer, producer, and creative practitioner at Howard University. Collectively, these efforts represent excellence in teaching, creative scholarship, research, and service that reinforces Howard University's enduring legacy of Truth and Service.
I invite you to explore this work, its outcomes, and its contributions to Howard University, the media professions, and the broader communities they serve.
Onward,
